"She was the mother of Harvey and Alexander Clifton and the grandmother of Hester C. Moore. Married to Charles Bill (sic?) Clifton. They homesteaded near the cemetery in 1857. In 1860 her husband and oldest son Charles Jr. left to seek work near St. James, Mo. Charles Jr. enlisted in the Union Army and was killed in service. Charles Sr. wrote that he was coming home some time in 1862, but he never arrived. His family believed he was murdered. Later she married widower Garland Moore. He is buried in the Union Cemetery beside his first wife."
