Because of the death in Nov. 1837 of her husband Joel Rollins, in March 1838, Elizabeth Haykes petitioned the Court of King’s Bench in the District of Montreal to have the Notary Public, Léon Lalanne of Stanbridge, authorized to arrange the appointment of a tutor and subtutor for her children Joel and George Robinson Rollins. I. R. Rolland, Justice of King’s Bench immediately granted her request. Léon Lalanne accepted and put under oath the nine individuals put forth by Elizabeth Haykes and in April 1838 the nine proposed Elizabeth Haykes as tutor and Carleton Vaughan as subtutor who were then duly approved and registered by Lalanne.
After Joel's death she resided in Stanbridge, Canada East.
Elizabeth was wife #2 of Joel.
