After the early death of James she opened a corner shop and got up at 6 am every day to bake "Hafe a stone of bread" , teacakes and oven cakes. They sold Golden Syrup by the jug, Tea in a twist of paper, a bit of cheese cut off the block & sweets in a paper cone. The shop was open until midnight and folks would come in for groceries at 5 to 12! |
