It is noted that a previous researcher stated Elizabeth Butler died in 1840. But Joseph Redding is married to Elizabeth of about the same age in 1851. Did he marry a second time? No evidence as yet.

With regards to the family, the earliest record found for Sarah M Redding is the census of 1851. It is doubtful that she is the daughter of Joseph Redding and Elizabeth Butler, given their ages. She may be Sarah Margrave, aged 16 months in the 1841 census with Joseph and Elizabeth (and their granddaughter through Mary Ann Redding who married George Margrave in 1824) or she may be Sarah Redding, daughter of William and Mary Redding of Chesham, Buckinghamshire. (Chesham and Northchurch are only a few miles apart.)
