Facts and Events
Elizabeth Aram's origins have yet to be established. The age given for her when she married suggests she was born around 1721. Elizabeth's first confirmed sighting is her marriage on 9th February 1746 to John Fernihough at St Mary's Church in Nottingham. She was living in the parish of St Mary's at that time. John was a farmer from the village of Flintham, about thirteen miles east of Nottingham. After their marriage Elizabeth and John lived in Flintham for a few years, having three children baptised there between 1748 and 1752. They then moved about nineteen miles south to Willoughby on the Wolds, where they had another two children in 1755 and 1759. Their eldest daughter died at Willoughby in 1760, aged twelve. John died at Willoughby in 1764, aged forty. After John's death the family appears to have returned to the Flintham area, settling in the neighbouring village of Hawksworth. Elizabeth's eldest son was married at Hawksworth in 1776 and Elizabeth's first grandchild was born later that year. A second grandchild followed in 1778. Elizabeth died in 1780, being buried at Hawksworth on 2nd August 1780. She was about 59 years old. References
