The Genealogy of the Burley or Burleigh family in America conveys confusing information about the name of Giles Burley's wife. She is referred to as Elizbabeth in his will. But there is also reference to Rebecca, widow of Giles Birdley [presumably Burley] and who is also mother of Andrew.

[Comment: The Burleigh genealogy never presumes a name of his wife, it merely repeats what various documents say. They are confusing. His will says Elizabeth. Yet it is Rebecca Birdley that marries Abraham Fitts and then, as Rebecca Fitt calls Andrew Birdley her son (s. Gyles according to the birth record) in giving him everything her husband Gyles Birdley gave her. This all comes from the probate file of Giles/Gyles [Essex Probate Vol. 2, p. 137]. The will is written in 1668, proved Sep 1668, and Rebecca m. Abraham in 1668[/69] so little time for her to be other than the wife mentioned in the will. ?? --Jrich 03:07, 31 January 2022 (UTC)]
