Effie lived in Montgomery, WV, for 43 years and was a member of the Montgomery Methodist Church there. She was married to Cyrus H. Martin, an educator in Preston County, and later Superintendent of Schools in Fayette County, and President of New River State College in Montgomery, WV. She was buried in the Sunset Memorial Park in South Charleston, WV, on March 23, 1959.
