- ↑ He was back in Wisconsin by 1888 when he was married. He also built his parents' house in Timber Creek in 1888 according to a letter he wrote in 1936. He remained in Wisconsin until 1990 or 1991 before returning to Idaho between the births of his 1st and 2nd children.
- The birth date, 18 Mar 1862, recorded in the church book at the baptism a month after his birth, was probably an error by the clergyman. The baptism was on 18 April, and he recorded the birth date as 18 March (same day of the month as the baptism), when it should have been recorded as 21 March. March 21st was the birth date observed by his family.
