Notes
- Edward Stratton, Sr. was a planter of Henrico County, Virginia. He is given as the progenitor in Vikus, but a Joseph Stratten, who was a Burgess in 1632, had a patent for land at a place called "Nutmeg Quarter" that did belong to Capt. John Smith, and was sold to Stratton by Capt. William Pierce on 8 July 1635, that could be the father of Edward.
- Edward married 1st, Elizabeth Thurston. After her death in 1676, he married 2nd in 1688, Martha (Brown) Shippey, widow of Thomas Shippey, Sr., who had died in 1687. The will of Martha Stratton (widow of Edward Stratton, Sr. and earlier of Thomas Shippey, Sr.), dated 24 July 1692, probated in Henrico County, Virginia, shows that she was the wife of Edward Stratton, Sr.
