Facts and Events
His father Edward died intestate, so he inherited all his lands. In 1703, he deeded 60 acres to Joseph and 50 to Christopher. He was a Quaker, and as such refused to train for the militia. In 1706, he was fined 11s. (taken in pewter). He served on the town council 1714-1720, as well as as a deputy 1716-7. At his death, his estate was worth £396, including a weaving loom, cooper's and carpernter's tools, a slave, and livestock.(Austin) His children are enumerated in agreements between his son Edward and Alice, Martha, Mercy, Amy, Mary, Freelove, and Rachel for their shares in their father's estate. Some of that land was given in 1734 in trust to Abraham until he was of age. Anne and Sarah apparently did not give receipts to their shares of the land. References
