Facts and Events
Edward became a banker in Glasgow (J. Paterson). 1841 census registers Edward “Ferrier” Smith, born about 1835.
In 1871 the family lived at Old Auchendraine, New Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire (census). In 1881 Edward T. Smith (b.1836, Edinburgh), member of the Glasgow stock exchange, wife Margaret E. (b.1843 West Indies), Glasgow-born children; Charlotte P. (1868), Caroline E. (1869), John F. (1870) and children born in New Kilpatrick: Margaret E. (1871), Edward T. (1873), Ethel F. (1874) and Constance N. (1876) lived at Old Auchendrane, New Kilpatrick (census).
In 1891 Edward Turner Smith (b.1836 Edinburgh), stockbroker, and wife Margaret E. (b.1843 Demerara, West Indies) and children lived at 13 Royal Crescent, Cathcart, Renfrewshire (census). Royal Crescent, Crosshill, is now named Queen’s Drive.
