1764 - May have been born at Sudbrook, Lincolnshire.

1841 - With wife at Ancaster. Independent, aged 75, born in the county.

1847 - Edward and his wife, Elizabeth, are buried together at St Martin's Churchyard, Ancaster. Their daughter, Mary, is also buried with them. Edward's gravestone records that he was aged 83 years. The stone is made of granite. As this granite was imported, rather than the local stone from Ancaster, it indicates that the family was reasonably wealthy. The grave is directly next to the church building, very close the chancel. This is regarded as a prime place to be buried. Mary Grasby (nee Smart), Edward's sister-in-law, is buried nearby, as are Edward's daughter, Dinah and her husband, John Hare. (Information from Henny Shotter, Church Warden, St Martins, Ancaster, 2003.)
