Edith Beerly
Golden City - Edith Ann Beerly, 78, Golden City Route 2, died at 2:10 a.m. Saturday at Freeman Hospital in Joplin following a sudden illness.
Born April 21, 1909, in Hoberg, she had resided in the area her lifetime. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lockwood. She worked as a cook in area restaurants and a nursing home. She was married to Henry Beerly August 20, 1929, near Jasper. He preceded her in death September 30, 1984.
Survivors include three daughters Eveline Huffman, Kansas City, Kansas; Dorothy Pugh, Reeds, and Henrietta Parker, Golden City; four sons, Gaylon Beerly, Lamar, and Carl Beerly, Harry Beerly, and Lewis Beerly, all of Golden City; four sisters Ophelia Soos, Carthage; Anna Simmons, Liberal; Lenna Fitchpatrick and Wanda Simmons, both of Jasper; 25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Lockwood. The Rev. Kenneth Roller officiated, with burial in Greenwood-Kistler Cemetery, southeast of Golden City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenwood-Kistler Cemetery.
Arrangements were under direction of Pugh Funeral Home at Golden City.
