Edgar married Annie Goodall COURTMAN 3rd qtr 1904 at Chorlton, Lancs (bmd). Annie was b. 2nd qtr 1874 at Ashton u. Lyme, Lancs. (bmd), daughter of James and Lucy A. (census). They had a daughter Kathleen Moffat Elwell (b. 4th qtr 1907, Barton, Lancs (bmd, 1911 census)).

Edgar was in Lancs Fusiliers in Boer War and at Gallipoli, 1915; he had an engineering business at Hulme, Manchester, and retired to Devon 1928 (web). He worked for the family firm of Edward Wood and Co., retd to Winkleigh, Devon; after his wife died in 1941, he remarried in 1943 but died 4 years later ("Iron Elwells"). A GWR share transaction concerned Edgar Moffatt Elwell, Devon, in 1932 (findmypast).
