You mention a John Hartley in Virginia. My GGGrandfather was John Hartley in Virginia, but there was another John Hartley there about the same age, but he had only daughters so that wouldn't have continued the Hartley name. My John Hartley (1804-1885)married in 1829 Roseanna Twigg. John's father was Thomas Hartley of VA. I know his wife's name was Sarah (according to land records)and I have a feeling she was a Biggerstaff. Thomas' father was (John Hartley (1750-1826)who married Rebecca Biggerstaff. Beside Thomas they had daughters Susanah and Drusilla.) That is as far as I can go back but think they probably came from the Bucks Co. PA Hartleys. John and Roseanna Hartley's son Martin Conser Hartley married Lavina Twigg and their daughter Julia Agnes Hartley married Joseph Denton Boden. They are my father's parents. If you have any information I could use please let me know. One other thing --- Rebecca Biggerstaff was the daughter of William Biggerstaff and Rebecca Friend (daughter of Gabriel Friend and Maria Van Cullin)
