In 1790, he was living in Two Delaware Hundreds, with one white male over 16, four white males under 16 and three females.

On 28 Oct 1801, he and his sister Rachel Petticoat, deeded to their brother, John Barnes, Stevenson's Deer Park. Dorsey's wife, Lydia, consented. On 24 Nov 1826, Dorsey deeded 3 acres of Stevenson's Deer Park to Moses Barnes.

In 1809, Dorsey Barnes, Sr., and Dorsey, Jr., were sureties for the administration of the estate of Adam Barnes.
