Dorothy Victoria Horsler was born in 1897 at Luton in Bedfordshire, daughter of a straw hat machinist named Emily Eliza Horsler, formerly Marshall, and her husband Walter Harry Horsler, a straw hat blocker. She appears in both the 1901 and 1911 censuses living at home in Luton with her parents and siblings.

In 1921, she married Ernest Flitton. They do not appear to have had any children. Dorothy died in 1978, aged 81.
