1927 - Doreen's mother died when she was 16 and she had much of the responsibility for bringing her younger siblings.

1932-33 - Doreen left Tasmania for Victoria about 1932 or 3, where she stayed for the rest of her life.

1935 - Doreen's first husband, Geoffrey Charles JAMES, died when their only daughter was still a toddler. He reportedly suffered sudden kidney failure and Doreen awoke to find him dead in bed beside her.

1936 - Eighteen months after her first husband's death, Doreen married Wilfred Tracy KIMBALL, with whom she had two more children, and who remained her partner until his death in 1991.
