Obit from funeral program:S1 DAVID NELSON RUMELHART, son of Myrtle Coleman and Troy William Rumelhart, was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa, on February 28, 1952. He passed away at his home in rural Guthrie Center on July 22, 1995, following a lingering illness. David was raised in the parental home where he attended school and grew into manhood. David was a graduate of Guthrie Center High School. Following completion of high school David worked for various construction companies, including Betts and Beer as well as Rumelhart Construction. David also spent some time in Alaska where he farmed and also worked construction. For the past 8 years he has worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation. On July 21, 1986, David was united in marriage to Pam Sellman and to this union one daughter Chelsie was born. The family has resided in rural Guthrie County where David was able to enjoy gardening, hunting, fishing, and during the summer months his softball team, Rumez Dumez. David was a member of the Omar B. Shearer post of the American Legion and on the 21st of July, 1995, David made his confession of faith and was baptized into membership of the First Christian Church, Guthrie Center. David was preceded in death by his father and one brother Freddie. To mourn his passing he leaves his wife Pam and daughter Chelsie of Guthrie Center; three stepchildren; Kristine Rogers, Catherine Rogers and Timothy Rogers of Menlo, Iowa; There are three sisters: Freda Thompson of Des Moines, Norma Crandall of Adams, Massachusetts and Beverly Conley of Malad, Idaho; three brothers: Robert of Booneville, Jim of Waukee and Roger of Lake View; plus a host of other relatives and friends who will mourn his passing.
