In 1851 Margaret Lumsden (b.1788, Dysart), annuitant, and son David Lumsden (b.1822 Dysart), yarn merchant and bleacher, lived at High St., Dysart (census). On 14feb1862 at Pitcairnfield, David Lumsden, bleacher, bachelor, aged 40, of Pitcairnfield, Perthshire, son of James Lumsden, merchant, Dysart, dec., and Margaret Oswald, dec., married Laura Robnia Thomson, spinster, aged 24, of Pitcairngreen, daughter of John William Thomson, Minister of Tree Church of Scotland, and Janet Moncrieff, dec. Witnesses: John Bonar, Edinburgh, Rob Lumsden, banker, Glasgow, David Baines, banker, Perthshire (scotlandspeople). On death (1oct1864) of Rev John William Thomson, Pitcairingreen, Perthshire, executor was Laura Robina Thomson or Lumsden, wife of David Lumsden, dealt with by Alexander Moncrieff, Perth (GWR shares, findmypast). On death (20jul1883) of David Lumsden, Pitcairnfield, Redgorton, transactions affected Alexander Moncrieff (Blackfriars St., Perth), and Robert Hope Robertson in 1883 and Adml Arthur Farquhar, Robert Lumsden (Glenlockhart, Colinton Rd., Edinburgh) in 1898 (GWR shares findmypast). David and Laura probably lived at Pitcairnfield, Perthshire, very close to Redgorton, in 1882 (wedding report of Margaret Masterton, newspaper 1882). There was a firm called “Lumsden & Mackenzie Ltd, Bleachers, Huntingtowerfield” which existed from 1882 to 1972. Perth and Kinross Council Archive have a notice by David Lumsden concerning his take over of Huntingtowerfield in 1882. Pitcairnfield House (OS grid ref NO 0666 2608) and cottages were NW of Huntingtower at Almondbank (1867 map); the house is dated medieval to 19th century (Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust). A little south was Pitcairnfield Bleach Works, north of the river in Redgorton parish. Huntingtower Bleachfield, belonging to Huntingtower Bleach and dye works (OS ref NO 0721 2577), was south of the river in Tibbermore parish. Scottish archives have the will of “David Lumsden of Fincastle, Pitlochrie, Bleacher, Stormontfield, Pitcairnfield, Huntingtowerfield, &c., residing at Pitcairnfield, near Perth, d. 20/07/1883 at Pitcairnfield aforesaid, testate”. In 1871 David Lumsden (b. 1822 Dysart), linen bleacher and farmer, lived at Pitcairn House, Redgorton, with wife Laura R. (b.1838, Moneydie, Perthshire), James (b.1863 Redgorton), John W. (b. 1868 Redgorton) and daughter (b. 1871, Redgorton) (census). In 1881 David Lumsdon (!), head, linen bleacher and farmer with 500 acres (b. 1822 Dysart), wife Laura R. (b.1838 Redgorton) and children all born at Pitcairnfield: James And., clerk (b.1863), Laura M. (b.1871), Robert (b.1874), Margaret Y. (b.1876) and Ella Mary (b.1877) lived at Pitcairnfield House.(census). References
