At the time of the 1880 Loudon Co., TN, census (1 June 1880), David Houston DICKEY was 80 years old, living with second wife, Rebecca, and two children by her: Newton L., b. 1849 in TN, and Wilber A., b. 1856, TN. Also, there was an adopted daughter, Elizabeth Slaughter, 17 yrs. old. His grandsons (sons of James Wesley DICKEY and Susan Emeline WATERMAN), James Witten and William Alfred, were living with him. Other children of James W. and Susan, not accounted for, are: Edward Warren Dickey, Mary Cuter Dickey, and Susan Letitia Dickey. Nancy, formerly Dickey, died in Loudon Co., TN, Oct. 1872, without issue, leaving brothers and sisters and their heirs as follows:
Eadon White, being of N.D., did not qualify as executor and D. H. DICKEY was appointed. Petition to sell the Spring Creek farm to repay D. H. for money expended in Paying debts. There is an affidavit by William W. Dickey that John D. Fox, one of the respondents, is a non-resident, but there is no John D. Fox in the list.
