Notes from Edward Schanus, RootsWeb, WorldConnect:

From the Nodaway Democrat of August 18, 1898. A Family Reunion Uncle Daniel Sharp, who lives four miles northeast of Skidmore, was agreeably surprised by a large number of relatives and friends entering his home about 10 o'clock last Thursday. At noon the baskets were gathered together and a large table was spread and well filled with all kinds of good eatables, whick the merry crowd heartily partook of, and the rest of the day was spent in pleasant conversation. In the evening the crowd dispersed leaving the old people very happy. Uncle Daniel Sharp was born in Orange County North Carolina January 10, 1824. At the age of 21 years he married Malinda Keck aged 18 years, born in the same county, May 11, 1827. He came to Missouri in 1849, and settled in Clinton County. In 1854 they came to Nodaway County and have lived on his present farm 27 years. Uncle Daniel and Aunt Malinda Sharp have always lived on a farm. There were born to them eleven children - five boys and six girls. Three have died. Those living are Isaac, George, Monroe, William, Paul, Elizabeth wife of J T Linville, Eliza wife of Clark Harris, and Eva wife of Fremont Smith. All of these were present , except Paul and Eva, who were unable to attend. They have 34 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Most all were present. Others present were; William Tarpley and wife, Miss Mattie Tarpley, Anderson Nunnelly and wife, Samuel Davis and wife, Eugene Gibson and wife, George Smith and wife, Thomas McDonald and family, William Deavers and family, Mrs. James McDonald, Miss Lou Sharp, Mrs. John W Linville, Aunt Martha Cameron, Mrs. Alex Russell and two daughters Ora and Margie. Uncle Daniel and wife have been in poor health some time, their health however, being some better now. May they live to enjoy many more such occasions, is the wish of this writer. (signed H)
