112.1 Daniel(4) RITTGERS (Abraham3, Joseph2, John1) was born 14 Jun 1853 in Marion Twp., Hoc king Co., Oh., the son of Abraham RITTGERS and Catherine LEFLER. He is on the 1860 census, a ge 7, with parents there [p 158 fam #1037/1025], and on the 1870 census, age 16, with parent s in Brown Twp., Darke Co., Oh.[p 3 fam #41/40] He married Mary Ann WAGNER28 Oct 1877 in Dar ke Co., Oh. She was born 15 Apr 1858 in Darke Co., Oh. Family group sheet tells us she was da ughter of John and Mary (__) Wagner. By 1880, we see Daniel, age 26, now married to Mary, ag e 22, and farming in Brown Twp, Darke Co., Oh. They have with them daughter, Jennie, age 1.[ ED 56, p 46D, fam #70/75] 1900 census shows this family still in Brown Twp. Daniel is now 46 , married 23 yrs., still farming on his own farm. Wife Mary L., 42, reports she has born si x children. The six children, as listed below, appear on the census. Also, grand-daughter , Beatrice J. Porter, age 1, is listed. Beside oldest daughter, Virginia's, name is the indi cation she is married, but last name not specified on record.[ED 50, p 57B, fam #193/196] I n 1910, Daniel, now 56, is still farming. Mary, 51, declares they have been married 32 year s and she has born 7 children, 6 alive at this time. [ED 76, p 1A, fam #13/13] The 1920 censu s shows Daniel, 66, and wife Mary A., 61, in Brown Twp., where he continues to farm on the Ja ckson Twp.-Brown Twp. Rd. Son Ira, a widower, 39, is in the home with his son Everet A. [E D 93, p. 1B, fam #24/24] Mary died 17 Jan 1922 in Greenville, Darke Co., Oh., and was burie d 20 Jan 1922 in Teegarden Cemetery, Darke Co., Oh.. Her death record tells us she died "1 mile w est of Greenville." [ FOFH, p. 91] Daniel died 15 May 1928 in Darke County, Oh., and was bur ied 18 May 1928 in Teegarden Cemetery Daniel's death record reports he died "1 mile south of Elr oy, Oh." It further states he was born in Fairfield Co., Oh. Even though we see his parent s in Hocking Co., in 1850 and 1860, his mother may have gone to Fairfield Co. to family for t he birth.[FOFH, p. 91] References
