(3) Daniel McNiel (b. 1791 in Franklin, d. Aug. 29, 1861, on Kimberlin Creek in Bland Co.) m. Jan. 1, 1821, Elizabeth Kennett (b, 1790, d. ca. 1840 in Floyd), dau. of Peter Kennett and Milly Blankenship. Peter Kennett and Milly Blankenship m. Oct. 26, 1789, in Bedford and moved to Franklin, and later to Floyd. Milly Blankenship was a dau. of William and Elizabeth Blankenship of Bedford. Daniel McNiel was a teacher. His home in Franklin was on 60 acre tract bought from his father. In 1830, he sold his land to Nathaniel H. Claiborne, and moved to Floyd Co. Daniel and Elizabeth (Kennett) McNiel had issue:

Lavinia m. John Fanning; Naomi, m. (l) Anderson Evans, and (2) Isaiah Bruce; Emillar m. William Hoback; Rebecca d. young; Daniel Osborne (b. Jan. 21, 1831, d, Mar. 30, 1915, at Mechanicsburg) m. May 19, 1859, to Sarah Ellen Wohlford (b. Feb. 9, 1844 at Wytheville, d. Aug. 24, 1909 at Mechanicsburg}; and Elizabeth Ann (b. May 2, 1833, d. Mar. 14, 1908) m. Feb. 19, 1853 to Joseph Hoback (b. Aug. 10, 1832, d. Mar. 29, 1907). All the sons of Daniel McNiel served in the CSA.
