Known in the District as "Daniel van Vore". He was the first Voortrekker to move into the Marico District. From Winberg he trekked through the Vaal River and took a farm in the current Marico district for his family that he called Wilgenboomspruit.

He and his wife were the witnesses at the baptism of their oldest son's, Johannes Marthinus, three oldest children on 17 December 1849 in Potchefstroom. Johannes Marthinus youngest son, Daniel Rudolph Petrus, fought in the 2nd Boer War and was killed at Buffelshoek, Marico district.
