Daniel Iverson (Rev. I. Havneros)

Daniel Iverson was born on the 12th day of January, 1861, in the Town of Preble, Fillmore County, Minnesota. At the time of his birth his parents, Christian and Bertha Iverson, lived on the farm now operated by Mrs. Oliver Housker. Daniel was baptized in the Newburg Lutheran church on the 26th day of May, 1861. The other children in the Iverson family were Edward, Severt and Chris who survive brother Daniel. Three other children have answered life's final summons before: Andrew, Borre and Mrs. Ole Larson. One child in the Iverson family died in infancy.

Daniel Iverson spent all his working years on farms and on his present farm home in the Town of Black Hammer, Houston County, where he resided for 40 years. His life was always lonely for he never married. With the coming of old age, rheumatic pains and arthritis broke his body completely, so much so that he could move from one place to another only by crawling on the floor, and life was made bearable and comfortable for him by the fine care given him by his nephew, Edwin Iverson and his good wife Selma. Besides his broken body he suffered also during the latter years from hernia and this with complications caused his sudden death.

He was, during the latter years of his life, truly a Lazarus, but he was the door of kind people, and Jesus says: "Whatsoever ye did for the least of these my brethren, ye did it unto me."

The rites for Mr. Iverson were conducted on Tuesday Dec. 21st at the Newburg Lutheran church by the pastor, Rev. I. Havneros, with interment at the Cemetery adjoining the church.

The following served as pallbearers; Alfred Otterness; Olaus Karlsbrotten; James Skauge; James and Melvin Sketson and Clarence Housker.

May the memory of Mr. Daniel Iverson be blest. -Mabel Record, 12/31/1943
