He moved to Eastham with his parents in 1645, was a legal voter in or before 1675, and served that year in King Philip's War (in 1733 his claim was recognized by a grant in Narragansett Township #7, now Gorham Maine). He was a prominent man in the affairs of state and church. He served on a coroner's jury (1667/8) and on other juries thereafter; was surveyor of highways (1667, 1672,/3, 1699, 1700, and 1704); Selectman (1687-91 & probably 1691-6); and Town clerk (1676-1692).
He was the first physician in Eastham and was also a large land owner. He was Deacon of the First Church of Eastham.
His friend and neighbor George Crispe requested in his will that "Goodman Daniell Done be healpful to my wife" as overseer - so Daniel married her.
Daniel's will was dated 18 Sep 1711, proved 9 Oct 1712.
Will of Dea. Daniel Doane proved Oct 9, 1712, is found at p. 27 of Doane book. Inventory of Daniel Doane The Doane Family, Vo. II,Daniel Doane's marriages are not recorded in Eastham records. His 1st wife is believed by some genealogists to have been Constance Snow, dau. of Nicholas and Constance Hopkins Snow, but no documentary evidence has been found. The assumption has been based upon the names of two of his children: Constant, a son, and Constance, a daughter. The Society of Mayflower descendants has not accepted this assumption. Geneological Helper Vol 12, p. 169, Dec 1958 gives without the source the birthdate of Constance Snow as 1648.

"5. DANIEL DOANE (John1) was born probably at Plymouth, about 1636, and died at Easham, Dec 20, 1712, in the seventy-sixth year of his age. He was twice married. Nothing is known of his first wife. The marriage is not recorded on Eastham records. She doubtless was the mother of all the children, except the daughter Hepzibah. His second wife, whom he married after July 28, 1682, was Hepzibah Crisp, widow of George Crisp, and daughter of Daniel and Mary Cole of Eastham. She was many years his junior, and survived him.
Mr. Doane went from Plymouth to Eastham with his father's family, in 1645. He settled in that part of Eastham now known as East Orleans, near where Mr. Joseph Taylor now resides. He was a prominent man in the affairs of the town and church. He was a selectmaneach year from 1691 to 1696; a juryman in 1677, 1686, 1687, 1689; a surveyor of highways in 1667, 1673, 1699, 1700, 1704. He was a deacon of the First church for many years, probably succeeding his father Dea. John Doane. He was an extensive landholder, the Eastham records showing many grants to him, nearly all of which were within the limits of the present town of Orleans. One of his children, evidently the eldest, was accidentally drowned in a well at Eastham, and an investigating jury was impaneled Sept. 22, 1667. Dea Daniel Doane was buried in the old Town Cove burial ground where a small slatestone still legible marks his grave, and bears this inscription:
"Hear Lyes ye Body of Deacon Daniel Doane Dec'd Dec'e ye 20th 1712 In the 76 Year Of His Age.
