    1. At various times Lalo owned a restaurant in Los Angeles, Delano, Phoenix, Marysville. (Daughter, Minnie Delgado, 6/19/99). He cooked for a retired Mexican film star in Los Angeles. A friend of the actor, named Fernandez, had a restaurant in Delano. Lalo went to work with him and later bought the business after Fernandez became ill. (Daughter, Helen Vanegas, 6/12/01)

    2. Lalo purchsed in Chinese markets speaking Chinese. In Phoenix, he used to go across the street to Chinatown where he played Chinese lottery. (Daughter, Lucy Fimbres, 6/19/99)

    3. Our house was full of Chinese things, like incense. We took naps on mats. (Lucy, 6/19/99)

    4. Lalo worked as a cook from about the age of 12. [Anita, 1994]

    5. The restaurant in Los Angeles was on Main Street. It may have been known as "Tuttles'", after the owner. [Lucy, 29 July 2007]

    6. The Mass Card for Dalio's funeral gives his name as Mariano G. Padilla. Both Lucy and Minnie believe that Mariano was his given name, though he was known as Lalo all his life. The "G" stood for Gonzales. [Conversation, 24 Nov 2007] Both Lalo and his sister, Anita, used the surname Padilla, having dropped the So Lee surname after the death of their father.
