Rome Daily Sentinel, 13 June 1944: CORNELIUS COLLINS CHARGED WITH ABANDONMENT OF FAMILY Utica, July 13-- Cornelius E. Collins, 26, Rome, denied charges of abandonment of his wife and three children, whose ages are three and two years and nine months, when arraigned yesterday before County Judge Ezra Hanagan. Unable to give bail of $1,000, Collins was remanded to jail pending disposition of his case... The indictment on which he was arraigned charges that the abandonment took place in 1941. Collins was arrested at the home of relatives in Vienna after returning from Baltimore where he is reported to have been employed.
