Constance came from Newcastle to keep house for her brother William in Kamloops where he was a railroad engineer. She became engaged in Kamloops and returned to England for her trousseau. On the boat she met Cecil Berry who was returning to England to marry. Cecil and Constance married in Croydon in 1911.

Certificate: Cecil (24 years) fruit grower Constance (21 years) residing at "Rutherford" Pampisford Road, Croydon married according to the rights of the Strict Baptists witnesses: Gladys L. Vinall, Caroline E. Berry, Hilda Parkin, Caroline L. Berry, Edith L. Vinall, Algernon L. Berry, Barbara L. Berry, Margaret Berry.

They returned to Payette Idaho where Douglas Berry kept the ranch. Deryck and Sylvia were both born in Payette. At the outbreak of WW I, they returned to England. Cecil enlisted. After the war Cecil, Connie, Deryck and Sylvia went to Alberta, to Soldier Settlement Land.

In the 1920s Cecil and Constance left Millet and moved to Edmonton to Journey's End. Douglas and Bertha Pollard moved to Edmonton at about the same time and lived two blocks north of the Berrys. William and Clara Pollard lived in Revelstoke BC at this time. Connie following an operation for appendix suffered from general septicemia. Her doctor didn't wash well enough and he infected three patients that day. Her hip was badly infected, leaving her with one leg shorter than the other. Sylvia and Clara Pollard looked after her for a long period of time.

After Cecil's death in 1945 and before William Pollard's death in 1947, Constance and Clara pooled finances and bought Hideaway, a cottage on Telegraph Bay Road. They lived very happily together, Connie doing most of the household chores and Clara the garden and the washing. The garden was lovely and the Victoria sightseeing buses stopped at the gate to see a typically English garden.
