Facts and Events
Claude was born in Wanganui. Claude went to the Lansdowne School in Masterton. He worked with P&T delivering Telegrams. He enlisted for service in the World War 1 underaged. He served overseas getting injuries that gave him ongoing problems of Emphasema. After returning from service he returned to the P&T Dept. Claude married Flora Burling and purchased a farm block at Kopuaranga. Although 1 block it was made up of lots of sections which cause continuing hasstles as he slowly purchased them. The sections made up a paper town of Dryaton. Claude Milked Cows as well as working on the NZ Railways as a ganger. Claude assisted Flora to run the local store and petrol station run from there own house. Claude retired from the railways and then spent times of tripping around NZ collecting shells which he made into various ornaments. Claude leased the farm to Sid Bubb in latter years before dying in 1969. Claude owned a model A car for as number of years going everywhere in it and the car was later sold after his death. Claude played Tennis for many years as well as table Tennis. He loved to play cards especially Crib. Claude also enjoyed swimming. References
