1881-infant aged 5 months living with parents and siblings at Nook lane,Dalston, Cumberland, England. According to Vida, Christopher's father was an engine driver who committed suicide by drowning himself in the village pond. However, in 1881 Christopher's father was listed as being a quarryman. 1901-Christopherwas living with his widowed mother and siblings at Broates Tce, Aspatria, Cumberland, England. He was aged 19 and working as a 'colliery labourer top'. On Francis John's birth certificate, Christopher's occupation was noted as 'clerk at co-operative store'. When Francis was 6 months old, Christopher and Sally (with the Pearsons John, Frances, Mary and Bill) emigrated from Aspatria to South Africa. See notes under 'Francis John'. |
