In 1910, he was a day laborer; 1920 a laborer in a furniture factory; and in 1930 he was living with his son William Claude and his family in Union Twp., Isabella County, Michigan.

Obituary CHAS. WHITCOMB DEATH VICTIM

 Charles Whitcomb, well known county resident, died Monday at the home of his son, Claude Whitcomb in Union township after an illness extending over several months.  Had he lived until October 30 he would have been 78 years old.
 His father was killed in the Civil war and at the age of eight he went to Middleton, to make his home with an uncle.
 He was married in 1878 to Sarah Ellen Mahensmith at Echo, Indiana.  They were the parents of three children.  In 1898 they came to Mt. Pleasant and this has been their home ever since.
 He is survived by the three children, William Claude, James Earl and Lelia Grace, a stepson, H.W. Rex, and eight grandchildren.
 The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon at the Claude Whitcomb home with burial in Riverside cemetery.  Rev. C. B. Hawkins officiated at the obsequies.
