Friends of Charles R "Dick" Hertsel, 61, of 1421 Krau St., Elkhart, may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and until service time at 1 p.m. Friday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Homes. The Rev. Oscar Sheets of Northside Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery.

Mr. Hertsel died at 4 a.m. Wednesday (June 28, 1989) at home. He was born April 27, 1928, in Elkhart. He married Martha J. Griffiths on Jan. 24, 1948, in Elkhart. She survives with three sons, Richard D., Pearl River, LA, and Dale A., and James D both at home; two daughters, Mrs. William (Debra) Wyzlic, Overland, MO., and Jolene Jennings, Elkhart; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Everett R, Elkhart, and Ralph L, Edwardsburg; and two sisters, Mrs. Buford (Betty) Johnson and Mrs. Edward (Jeanene) Franks, both of Elkhart. One brother and one sister are deceased.

Mr. Hertsel was employed at Selmer Co. for 39 1/2 years.
