Charles Everitt was baptised on 27th October 1782 at Hitchin in Hertfordshire, son of Mary Everitt, formerly Cannon, and her husband George Everitt, a labourer. Charles's father died in 1800, when Charles was seventeen years old.
On 13th June 1806, aged 23, Charles married Mary Young at Norton, a couple of miles north-east of Hitchin. She was originally from Ardeley, about eight miles south-east of Norton, and they moved there after their marriage, having their first son baptised there in October 1806. They then moved about fifteen miles south of Ardeley to Bayford, where their next child was baptised in 1808. By 1810 they had moved again to Broxbourne, where they settled, having a further six children baptised at Broxbourne between 1810 and 1824. Charles was described as a labourer on several of the children's baptisms.
Back in Hitchin, Charles's mother died in 1830.
The 1841 and 1851 censuses each find Mary and Charles living at Broxbourne Common. In 1851 Mary was also described as being a farm labourer.
Mary died in 1853, aged 69. Charles survived her by seven years. He died aged about 78, being buried at Broxbourne on 19th October 1860.
