Charles S. Conklin, son of Daniel and Priscilla C, Conkling was born in 1832 in Cincinnati, Ohio. His middle name may have been Sylvester as he is listed as a member of Daniel Conklin’s home as Sylvester in early Cincinnati City directories. His marriage record gives his middle name as Stanley. The city directory shows that he worked as a bookkeeper. He married Anne (Anna) E. Walker, daughter of Anthony and Mary (Evans) Walker on 9 February 1854 in Delaware County, Ohio. Anne was born around 1831 in Delaware (Delaware County), Ohio and died on 13 February 1883 in Mt. Orab, Ohio. Charles died of erysipelas (an infectious skin disease with redness and swelling caused by streptococci) on 8 October 1864 in Cincinnati. After Charles’s death, Annie moved to a farm in Loveland (Clermont County), Ohio. Both Charles and Anna are buried at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati. Burial information was given by T. Conklin. Probate records for Charles and Anna have not been found in either Hamilton or Clermont counties of Ohio.
