Carrie worked at a hospital sewing children's clothing. After Walter died, Carrie bought a house in Indianapolis across the street from her son Everett. She died at Everett's home where she had lived with them for 7 1/2 years. She had angina. Her funeral remembrance card read: "Services at Wald Funeral Home, Illinois at 17th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, Wednesday, March 5, 1947, at 8 o'clock in the evening. The Rev. Robert Lewis officiating. Music by Miss Carol Baum. Member of the General Baptist Church, Francisco, Indiana. Past Noble Grand Assn. Olive Branch No. 10 Rebekah Lodge. Ladies Auxiliary Canton No. 2. Interment Odd Fellows Cemetery, Francisco, Indiana." Grandmother Carrie's Persimmon Pudding 2 cups persimmons (after they are rubbed through a colander) 1 1/2 cups sweet milk 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup shortening 2 cups flour 1 level tsp soda 1 level tsp cinnamon Bake at 375 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
