CARL ROSENOW, SR. ANSWERS SUMMONS
Well Known Round Prairie Resident Is Called Tuesday.
Funeral Services Will Be Conducted Tomorrow Afternoon.
Carl Rosenow, Sr., since 1886 a resident of Round Prairie township, passed away at his home Tuesday. Mr. Rosenow had not been in the best of health since February of this year and death was due to the infirmities attendant upon age.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. E.A. Dicke officiating. Interment will be made in the church cemetery.
Carl Rosenow was born in Pommern, Germany, the son of John and Malia Rosenow, on March 3, 1859. In 1882 he came with his parents to the United States and in 1886 to Round Prairie which continued his home for than a half-century. On January 5, 1883, he was married in Cleveland, Ohio, to Johanna Burke and they continued to make their home in that city until 1886 when they moved to Round Prairie. Numbered among the county's pioneers they engaged successfully in farming.(Continued on Page 2, column 2)
Mrs. Rosenow passed away February 26, 1942.
A Member of Trinity Lutheran church, Mr. Rosenow is survived by the following children: Herman of Osakis, Mrs. Ernest Koester of Long Prairie, Fred, Charles, Jr., Ortwin and Mrs. F.W. Nass of Round Prairie and Mrs. Ernest Meyer on the home place. Three children preceded the father in death, Ewald of Reynolds, Robert and Louise. Mr. Rosenow is also survived by a brother, John, who resides with his daughter, Mrs. Alfred Schroeder, in Long Prairie township and by six great-grandchildren and 22 grandchildren.
A resident on the same farm for 57 years, in the death of Mr. Rosenow the Round Prairie community has lost one of its oldest residents and a man who was inseperably indentified with the growth and development of that area.
According to Ancestry.com message boards: Submitter: Marlana Jones; Subject: Rosenow; Message: Dear Olaf, Ferdinand Rosenow married Amelia Priebe in Prussia about 1878-1880. Fred or Ferdinand Rosenow was born on December 13, 1854-1856 in Strausburg or Stettin. They came to the U.S. in 1881 arriving on or about June 3, 1881. They settled in Cleveland, Ohio. His father's name was either Wilhelm or Johann Rosenow. They were Lutherans. Ferdinand also had two brothers one named John and the other named Carl who also came to Cleveland. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you. Sincerely, Marlana Jones.
