Long Prairie Leader - 12 Aug 1915, Page 1 KILLED BY LIGHTNING Robert Rosenow Struck and Instantly Killed by Lightning Wednesday Afternoon. Henry Husted and Avil Rosenow Stunned. Were Quickly Revived. This community was shocked yesterday afternoon to hear that Robert Rosenow had been instantly killed by lightning during the electrical storm which struck here about 2 p.m., and that two other lads had been severely stunned by the bolt. The boys were working on a thrashing rig at the old Charles Mienke farm, now owned by Carl Hazelbring. Robert was feeding the separator when the bolt of lightning hit him. He gave no cry, but simply fell forward on top of the separator. Others who were working near the machine rushed to him, but life was extinct. A doctor was summoned from this city, who stated that he had been killed instantly. Henry Husted who was pitching to the machine from the load, and Avil Rosenow, who was tending the sacker were both badly stunned, but soon became conscious, and now seem none the worse for their experience. A dog which lay beneath the load was killed. Robert Rosenow, was a young man, and the accident is doubly sad, coming as it did without any warning whatever. The funeral will be held Friday forenoon from the Lutheran church in this city. He leaves to mourn his loss his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rosenow; five brothers and three sisters. The Leader joins in extending sympathy to the bereaved ones.
