MILITARY RECORDS:

Calvin E. Seaver of Waterbury, Vermont served in the Union Army in the Civil War. He enlisted as a Private on 25 August 1862 in Company I, 13th Infantry Regiment of Vermont. He was wounded on 3 July 1863 at Gettysburg, and his leg was amputated. He was discharged because of wounds on 7 November 1863. He died 20 July 1889 in Moretown, Vermont ("Military Records of Individual Civil War Soldiers," compiled by Historical Data Systems, online database viewed at www.ancestry.com).

CENSUS:

In the 1880 US census, the Calvin Seaver (age 45, born VT, tin peddler, father and mother born VT) family resided in Moretown, Washington County, Vermont. The household included his wife Alma (age 23, born VT, keeping house, father and mother born VT), daughter Mabel (age 2, born VT, at home), and mother Sarah Seaver (age 77, born VT, father and mother born VT).
