Facts and Events
Name Booker J. Jackson
Gender Male
Birth[1] Abt 1803 probably Chattooga Co., Georgia, United States
Marriage to Mary Ann Morgan?
Death?

Note from Bobbie Kinsey Jackson: "Found in an abstract of the 'Inferior Court Min. for Ordinary Purpose 1819-1861' the following: p40 Booker J Jackson granted letter of guardianship for Hope Jackson; Security Edward Jackson, Jan 1839. (Hope Jackson was son of Abraham Jackson son of Edward Jackson)" Hope's father Abraham died when Hope was about 7 years old. This guardianship, bonded by Edward Jackson, firmly ties Booker J. to Edward's line. Abraham and Booker A. were half-brothers with Booker A. being much older. Booker A's son Booker J. and Abraham were nearly the same age with Booker J born abt 1803 and Abraham born abt 1806. They may have been raised nearly as brothers. So when Abraham died, it was Booker J. who was appointed guardian of Abraham's son and it was grandfather Edward Jackson who put up his bond. William Hope Jackson b 1832 could have been the unknown son in the 1840 census but we cannot say for sure. (William Hope's mother was still living and he may have been with her.)

See also note in record of Booker J.'s son, David C. Jackson, when in 1880 David and family move to LaFayette in Walker Co., Georgia where his great-grandfather, Edward died in 1845. It is likely that family relationships there drew David to that area.

Three daughters and a son have been found for Booker J. who were born before 1840: 1840 United States Federal Census Name: Booker J Jackson County: Gwinnett, State: Georgia Free White Persons - Males - Under 5: 2 (David and unk son) Free White Persons - Males - 5 thru 9: 1 (unk son) - could have been William Hope b 1832 Free White Persons - Males - 30 thru 39: 1 (Booker J.) The Booker J. Jackson in the 1860 census above was granted guardianship of William Hope Jackson, s/o Abraham Jackson, s/o Edward Jackson and Mary Pauline 'Polly' Hall. I'll bet Booker J. is son of Booker A. but haven't got any info on that yet. (Jan 30, 2008)
