Beverly long-time resident of Clear Lake, IA Handicap Village where she was an accomplished Bell-ringer. Mentally retarded and a wonderful person. In 1998 she was living in a group home at 310 9th St., Charles City, IA 50616. Her half-sister, Pat, delivered her to the 1994 Braught family reunion in Des Moines, IA (Gene Braught returned her). In summer 1999 she won a race walking gold medal in the Iowa Special Olympics. I visited her at her half-sister's (Pat Peterson) home in Aug. 1999. She gave me one of her father's scout pins (Scouter Award medal) then, which I greatly treasure. At that time she was working part time at the local business run by handicapped people (similar to Good Will) and was very happy.

  1. ↑ Beverly's funeral was 10:30 AM Tues. March 20, 2007 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Charles City, IA with Hauser Runeral Home in charge of arrangements. Her sister Pat (and her husband Dennis Peterson) and her special cousin, Linda Thoen were with her at the Floyd County hospital when she died at 5:40 AM Saturday March 17. Ruth and Loran Braught had sent a spray of roses the previous Thursday.
