Bernard Smith, 60, living near Woodland, died Sunday noon following an emergency operation performed at his home for internal injuries sustained late Saturday night when he tripped over a pet cat in his garage. Members of the family said Mr. Smith has returned from a shopping trip and had driven his car into the garage for the night. When he alighted from the car he stumbled over the cat in the dark. He did not appear to be injured and a short time later went to bed. In the middle of the night, however, he summoned a doctor who
performed an emergency operation. It was understood Mr. Smith fell against the car striking his side.
He is survived by one son, Leslie, and a daughter Dorothy, both at home, and one brother Bert, at Woodland. Funeral services were held from the home Wednesday afternoon and burial was made in Lakeside cemetery. - ↑ Find A Grave Memorial# 96469673
