He was chosen Ensign of the Glastonbury Train Band, May 1710; and Lieutenant, May 1713. He served as Deputy for Glastonbury, May 1720, and was a Justice of the Peace in 1722 and 1723."

Talcott, Benjamin, Glastonbury. Invt. £2563-15-08. Taken 27 November, 1727, by Nathaniel Talcott and Thomas Welles. Will dated 13 October, 1727.
I, Benjamin Talcott of Glastonbury, do make this my last will and testament: I give to my wife the sum of 4 score pounds out of my moveable estate at the inventory price, or in money if my executor shall think best, excepting what my sd. wife brought with her, which my mind and will is that she have it back again at inventory price as part of the 4 score pounds (what may be found left of it), and the use of the parlour in the house I now dwell, and a convenient part of the cellar underneath it, and the garrett room that is over it, and the use of my ovens, and the use of such a part of my gardings as may be necessary for her own comfort, and the use of 1-3 part of my orchard on the west side of the highway on the lott I now dwell, with the use of 1-3 part of all the rest of my land on that side of sd. highway down to the Great River. It is to be understood that my sd. wife is to have the use of the sd. house and land no longer than she remains my widow. I give to my son Benjamin all my right of land in the Town of Bolton, and 124 acres of land in the Town of Hebron which I bought of Joseph and John Phelps of sd. Hebron, with what I have already given to my sd. son, as may appear by my book of accounts. I give to my son John all the rest of my land in the Town of Hebron, particularly that tract of land in sd. Hebron lying west of Jacob Root's land, containing 300 acres; and that 50 acres of land in sd. Hebron I bought of Asahell Owen, lying northward of Richard Curtice's; and one yoke of steers coming 4 years old; and £10 out of my moveable estate besides what I have already given, as appears by my book of account, and £15 money, to be paid by my son Elizer at or before he my sd. Son Elizer arrive to the age of 21 years. I give to my son Samuel the 1-2 of the lott of land (I now dwell upon), on the south side, and 153 acres of lands lying within the bounds of Glastonbury, beyond Blacklidge's River, adjoining to Hebron bounds, and the 1-2 of my undivided land in sd. Glastonbury, and my smith's shop and all my smithery tools (excepting any I shall give to my sd. son John), and my longest gunn, and 1-2 of my present team and team tackling, as collars, haims, chains, cart and wheels, plows and harrows. I give to my son Elizer the other half of my lott of land I now dwell upon, on the north side, with the buildings thereon (excepting the smith shop); and 60 acres of land lying in Glastonbury, eastward of and adjoining to lands of the heirs of the Reverd. Mr. Stevens decd., at a place called the Ash Swamp; and 96 acres of land in sd. Glastonbury, lying eastward of the Great or Bare Hill, adjoining southwardly to land of Samuel Loveland; and the other half of all my undivided land in sd. Glastonbury, and my newest gunn, and the other half of my team and team tackling as above mentioned, he my sd. Son Elizer paying to my sd. son John the sum of £15 money as above mentioned. And further, my mind and will is, that all the wollen cloth (and one piece of linen of about 40 yards that is now about to weave) which my wife has made or shall make this present year be disposed of to my wife and my children unmarried, as my wife thought to do in my lifetime. I give to my daughter Sarah £100 in or as money, with what I have already given her. I give to my daughter Hananh £100 and a decent suit of clothes or £10 money. I give to my daughter Mehetabell £100 and a decent suit of clothes or £10 money when she shall arrive at the age of 18 years or her day of marriage, which shall happen first. I appoint my son Jonathan Hale and Benjamin Talcott to be my executors.
