Elizur4 Talcott (Benjamin,3 Samuel,2 John1), born at Glastonbury, Conn., 31 Dec. 1709, died there 24 Nov. 1797, in his 88th year (gravestone); married at Glastonbury, 31 Dec. 1730, Ruth Wright, born at Wethersfield, [24 May 1711], died at Glastonbury, 21 Sept. 1791, in her 81st year (gravestone), daughter of Daniel and Elinor (Benton) Wright.

    He was confirmed Quarter-Master of the Troop of Horse in the 6th Regiment, Oct. 1740; Cornet of the same, Oct. 1749; Lieutenant, Oct. 1751; Captain, May 1756; and Major of the 6th Regiment, also in May 1756. He was Deputy for Glastonbury, Oct. 1765, May 1766, May and Oct. 1767. He was appointed Lieutenant-Colonel of the 6th Regiment of Militia, Oct. 1771, and Colonel, Oct. 1774 (resigned November, 1776). He was Justice, 1773-1782."
