Benjamin Franklin Plumley married Sarah McDonald before 1839. In 1842 Benjamin bought 55 acres from his father-in-law adjacent to his property in Middlesex Co, NJ in an area outside of Kingston, NJ now called Monmouth Junction, NJ. He died at 53 of consumption leaving Sarah and 8 children. One son and the girls stayed at the farm while the other sons, all carpenters, went to Washington, DC to seek their fortunes.
