John Plumley was born in New Jersey in 1778. He served in the Hunterdon Militia for the War of 1812 and received a pension for his service. In 1830-1840 he was a farmer in the Lawrence Township area outside of Trenton that later became part of Mercer County. On the 1850 Census he is in the home of his son, Benjamin Franklin Plumley, outside of Kingston, Middlesex, New Jersey. In 1860 he is in the home of his daughter Eliza Ann Plumley Martin in Trenton on Pennington Ave. He died there 17 June 1863.

  1.   A look-up through Mercer County on US Genweb said that John Plumley was buried "in Mr. Carter's plot" in Mercer Cemetery on 19 June 1863 and was disinterred in 1879. (His wife died in 1879 and I assume they are buried together. Where?)
