Benjamin died of apoplexy and left no will. In the settlement of his estate nearly all of his children are named. Hannah Jewett is the mother of his first 10 children. Isabel Wood is the mother of the other 8 children. Isabel Wood and Eleanor Wood who married Benjamin's nephew John were sisters.

Died intestate, but the administration of his Estate was granted to his son, Caleb Knight, and the distribution thereof, provides a list of his children. (Norwich Probate Records, Book 4, page 482.)
