“The killing of Ben Holmes by Berry Foskey Sunday night, is deeply deplored by friends of both parties. It seems there had been bad feelings existing between the two young men for some time. The immediate cause of the killing was the accusing Holmes by Foskey of blockading a road through the farm of the former. Holmes denied the accusation in terms more earnest than polite, when Foskey fired, killing him instantly. It occurred in the piazza of Mr. Josh Harrell’s home. Up to this time Mr. Foskey has not been captured.”
