BASIL DUCKETT HALL, Planter, b. 21st August, 1797, in Frederick County, Maryland ; d. 5th May, 1875, at "White Hall," Anne Arundel County, Maryland. In 1830 he sold the HALL Homestead near Governor's Bridge, Anne Arundel County, and purchased and removed to that part of "White Hall" formerly owned by his father on the opposite side of the public road from the birthplace of Johns Hopkins, and where the latter lived until he moved to Baltimore and accumulated his large fortune. Basil Duckett Hall was one of the founders of Severn Parish, Anne Arundel County, and was one of the original vestrymen of that Parish, and an active worker and supporter of St. Stephen's Church until his death. He, with members of his immediate family, are buried in the cemetery adjoining the Church. In 1855, with the late Richard I. Duvall, Phil M. Leakin, William Jones, Benjamin E. Gantt, William H. Baldwin, and others he was one of the Founders and an original Trustee of the Anne Arundel Academy.
